This is worth my life, that is, the Gospel

It's becoming so clear for me. I know my purpose in life. I must go back to Brazil. It has been fuzzy for some time now. However, God has just been pounding it into my head and heart....Brazil is where God wants me. This is my fulfillment in life. This is not something I could have planned or wanted to. Honestly, when I first got back from my three-month stay on the Amazon, I wasn't sure if I could go back emotionally, and physically. Now, though, it is clear that I can't not go back. As I write this, my body is full of shivers. Not shallow shivers, but ones full of the realization of God's providence in ordaining all this to come to pass in my life. I posted a quote from John Piper a couple days ago. He said, "Do what is right, given what you can see to do, and let the chips fall where they will, and God will make a life for you and it will be wonderful." So, given what I see to do, this has got to be it. I don't know if I've felt this strongly about anything else before. While I was driving, God put these words into my head, "Find something worth dying for and start living for it." The truth of the Gospel is it. It is so worth dying for it, that it is what I want to live for. May God be merciful to me. May His will be done in my life. May I do His will only, not mine. Purge from me any selfish ambitions, Father!

Great to hear Julianne, I think the times in your life when you can see the old things coming to a close and new things falling into place are by far the most exciting. Even more so when it is the Lord who is directing your every step.

so, when you going back? And is this something you'll do now? Or finish school first then go back?

Just remember sister:

"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

I hope you enjoy and glorify God fully and completely wherever He sends you!

That's awesome Julianne!!! The quote by Piper is quite encouraging. Reminds me that if I follow God and His will for my life, everything will be okay. Something good to be reminded of. Take care!

It is very frustrating doing my business of cleaning windows, because I am constantly wanting to do other things , like studying theology, studying hard the scriptures, evangelizing, and preaching the word. I love to be able to do what your planning on doing. More power to ya! May God truly bless you, as He leads you. And uses you greatly. Amen

I wholly know how you feel! We are moving to Manaus, Amazonas, Brasil in December or shortly after! I have a burning desire to go back and become a Brazilian. I feel the call of the Lord to pour my life into Brazil. Once I leave I do not intend to ever come back. Is that what you are talking about? Or just a short-term trip? It sounds like a life-thing.

Maybe we'll meet there. Você fala de Português? Deus está no controle! Jesus é fiel!

Com um coração verde e amarello,

Pete

Hi Pete,

Wow....I would actually be in Manaus too (or perhaps going from Santarem, Para)! What a small world. I feel the same thing. It would be a life committment, not short-term. How have you learned porteguese? Will you devote a couple months to learn? Or do you already have it down? Amazing God we serve, eh?

What will you be doing down there? With whom will you be serving?

While I was there over the summer I learned the basics. I definitely need to devote time to get it down. "God is in control" "Jesus is faithful" "With a heart green and yellow"????

Thanks so much for leaving a comment. I'd love to see how your life progresses.

Deus Te Abencoi!!!

Julianne,
It's funny, we met a missionary group with Christian Missions Unlimited going to Santarem, Para this summer. That is the group I first went to Brazil with. We will be working with the Baptist church in Manaus. I am a Southern Baptist, but I cannot go under them because I already have a place to go. Ah well.

I am working on Portuguese. Eu estou aprendendo de português agora. (I am learnign Portuguese now). My wife and 4 year old speak fluently (she's Brazilian and Viví has learned the language easily). I also talk on the phone with some Brazilians (sisters-in-law, 2 spiritual daughters, 2 pastors, and some friends)- that all helps.

Jesus é fiel!! is my motto, Deus está no controle is a truth I love to speak- it's so Biblical and Reformed that Arminians accept and use the phrase to the glory of God and contradiction of their faulty position- and "my heart is green and yellow" is my tribute to my love of Brazil. Manaus feels like my home when I am there. It's odd, but I can tell you more about why that is if you want me to via email. It's too long and risks going OT. JESUS TE ABENÇOE MINHA IRMÂ EM CRISTO!

I agree with your post, nothing is more important than living for the gospel. I've just started an evangelism blog to encourage Christians in sharing the gospel. If you are interested visit http://couragetoshare.blogspot.com
