"God has designed this trial for my good"

Just found out last night that John Piper has just recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. You can read his God-centered, Christ-exalting letter here. Please pray for him and Noel.

John's books, DVD's, and CD's have been a huge part of my life. His passion for the glory of God and the supremacy of Christ is infectious. May the grace of God ever shine on him.

Thanks, Jo, for bringing this to my attention.

I don't want God to take him. But I know that He holds the universe in orbit, and has ordained all things for glory.
...as I continue to have my crying episodes...

That is a a sad yet a great article hearing John lift up Jesus in this time of adversity.

Whenever someone is going through trials. It reminds me of the scripture which says when you are sick go to the elders, annoint our head with oil and pray for healing. This John did and he has some great promises from the Lord in the scripture.

Prostate cancer kills as many or more people then breast cancer yet is rarely ever talked about.

Jo,

Know what you mean...I was up late last night crying in bed. I started realizing how much Piper has impacted me, what a wonderful man of God.

I read recently that the first time he went to put his arm around Noel, he jabbed her eye with his elbow. How cute is that???

My pastor, Dr. David Jeremiah (Turning Point Radio) has gone through huge bouts of cancer two different times. He was a fighter.

He wrote a book during the ordeal called "A Bend in the Road" which is primarily about the encouraging features of the Psalms, which was able to give him great comfort.

Piper's attitude as expressed by you is very humble and encouraging.
