I like listening to them as well.Maybe I should'nt. recently I told a friend of mine that I don't listen much to secular music, but I still like Journey. I watch a show on the histoy of Journey. Their song "wheel in the Sky" is about reincarnation. Much like that of the Beatles in the 60s they had brought back eastern beliefs.

The song "Hotel California" by the (Eagles) I have heard all kinds of rumors on how that song came about(all bad).So I don't know what to believe.

I have watch "Hell's bells" the first one and learned alot about music and the bands that I had once listen to,and how bad their worldview was.

The main host of Hell's Bells" is the same guy on "Amazing Grace" (the hisoty of calvinism.)The Lord sovereignly opened his eyes to the doctrines of grace.

I often wonder about passion driver people.They are hard to come by, they are rare, so...so rare.Who do you think of,when you think of someone being passion driven? I think of someone like John Piper. Thats someone I would like to emulate. I want his passion.I want to have passion like that. I would love to hang out with him for a week or a month or so,Just to see how he lives. I bet, he lives diffrently then most christians. I can't imagine him going to the movies on a regular basis, or listening to secular music.

So my answer to your question is does it get in the way of your joy in God? That is putting it in the form of a negative question. The form of a positive question, Does it increase your affections for God?

Good comment. I have been thinking about this for some time. Also, if our passion for this life (and for eternity) is to be bringing glory to God, then everything we do should be to magnify Christ. There isn't enough time for stuff which doesn't "increase your affections for God."

So, I can still like and appreciate Journey's musical skill, but choose to spend my time more wisely by listening to something which will lift Christ up in the glory of which He is worthy.

However, if what you said about Journey's Wheel in the Sky song is true, than I shouldn't like and appreciate them.
